Filipe Luis has warned his colleagues Brazil will face perhaps their most difficult test in World Cup qualifying so far when they meet Uruguay in Montevideo on Thursday.

Six consecutive victories in Conmebol qualifying have the five-time world champions top of the pile in South America’s 10-team group, and favourable results against in Uruguay and at home to Paraguay this month could secure qualification for Russia 2018.

But, even with Luis Suarez suspended, Filipe Luis insists the Selecao are in for tough night against the Celeste.

“We have the chance to qualify for the World Cup, but it will not be easy,” he said.

“We will be two very difficult matches. One is the most difficult so far, but we are in a great moment and capable of winning this game.”

Filipe Luis’s former Chelsea team-mate Willian echoed his comments after the duo arrived at the team hotel ahead of Tuesday’s training session in Sao Paulo.

"It's always a privilege and a pleasure to wear the Brazil shirt,” Willian said. “But now we have a few days of hard work. The first game will be very difficult, but it's important to forget our clubs now and make sure we focus entirely on the national team.”
