Ulinzi Stars to face AFC Leopards and Mathare United in friendlies

Ulinzi Stars will wrap up their pre-season preparation with a friendly match against AFC Leopards on Saturday.

Head coach Dunstan Nyaudo will use the tie that will be preceded by a match against another KPL side, Mathare United on Friday to name his final squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Ulinzi will face off with Mathare United at the Goan Institute in the first match, on Friday 30th November at 10.0 AM then face off with Leopards on Saturday 1st December at KTTC in Gigiri.

Nyaudo, who guided the Soldiers to a fourth-place finish last campaign has so far played 10 build-up matches at the Coast, including Bandari who they tackled at the Mbaraki Stadium. “After the second friendly match I will name my final team for the coming season,”  Nyaudo told

Nyaudo and his charges recently returned from a pre-season tour of the Coastal region where it played friendly matches across the counties of Kwale, Mombasa and Kilifi and

At the Coast, Ulinzi faced off with Wundanyi, Kwale, Mombasa, and Malindi, Modern Coast Rangers, Coast Stima FC, Kenya Navy, Congo Boys and Kilifi All-Stars before wrapping up the tour with a clash against fellow top-tier side Bandari FC.

“We gained a lot from the friendly matches as well. We are now in the final days before the new season and I am glad at the intensity and general preparations.

“We will have the actual picture of where we are as a team after the coming two friendly matches,” Nyaudo added.

Ulinzi Stars have so far signed Clinton Omondi and Ezekiel Okare from Sony Sugar and Sofapaka respectively, while the rest of the squad is composed of a majority of the group that did the work last season.
