Tunisian Football Federation extends Nabil Maaloul’s contract as head coach

Tunisia head coach Nabil Maaloul has been handed a five-year contract extension by the Tunisian Football Federation.

Following a successful 2018 World Cup qualification campaign, the 55-year-old tactician will stay at the helm till June 2022.

The Carthage Eagles maintained an unbeaten run in their qualifying series to finish at the summit of Group A with 14 points from six games and have been paired alongside England, Belgium and Panama in Group G of next year's tournament in Russia.

The former Esperance de Tunis manager guided the side to their first World Cup appearance since 2006 and has been tasked to lead the 2004 African Cup of Nations champions to the next global showpiece in Qatar in 2022.

Thrilled with the contract extension, the former Kuwaiti national team head coach took to social media to share the good news.

“Allah's will is to extend my contract with Tunisia until June 2022. We ask Allah conciliation," Maaloul tweeted.

Tunisia take on England in their first World Cup group game at the Volgograd Arena on June 18.
