TP Mazembe's Confederations Cup hero Adjei tight-lipped on future

The midfielder was a key component in helping the Ravens to successfully retain the Caf Confederations Cup, but his future remains unclear

Ghanaian midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei is tight-lipped on his future with TP Mazembe after playing a key role to help the Congolese giants defend the Caf Confederations Cup against Supersports United last week.

Adjei, 29, scored the winner in the 2-1 victory in the first leg as the Ravens landed in South Africa to hold the Premier Soccer League side to a goalless draw in the return fixture.

The former Asante Kotoko star's contract with Mazembe will expire in the first week of December.

“For now, I can't tell what the future holds for me. It's left with some few days and my contract will expire. So it's something I'm pondering on because I've got to finally decide on my future," Adjei told Happy FM.

"I've spoken to a few people for advise but nothing is yet on the table. I'm praying for God to take control over the situation because I believe in everything we do you need God's intervention before it can yield results," he said.

"I'm seeking his divine intervention so that even if I'll leave, my next step will be as great as my time here in Mazembe. I've won a lot of trophies here including the Caf Champions League and Super Cup and must keep winning laurels before I retire,” he added.

Goal understands that Kotoko have expressed interest in Adjei's services as they prepare for the Confederations Cup next season but the midfielder is not prepared to return to the Kumasi-based club since he would likely take a pay-cut.
