Sundowns midfielder Mabunda hopes to be ready for Caf Champions League showdown

Goal spoke to Mabunda, who missed the Brazilians' 2-0 win over Mariveni United in the Nedbank Cup last 32 clash on Monday

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Tiyani Mabunda sustained a shoulder injury in the dying minutes of their 1-0 PSL defeat away to Cape Town City last Friday.

“I am fine, but I am waiting for feedback from our medical team to confirm how bad it was,” Mabunda told Goal.

Mabunda hopes to get a positive feedback - so that he can be ready for their Caf Champions League second round  first leg clash against Ugandan side Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

“I hope to get a positive response from them because I would like to continue assisting the team in the same way I have been doing in our previous games," he said.

“So I am just waiting for the doctor to come through with the results - so that I get a clear indication whether I will be available or not for the game,” Mabunda added.

‘Shuga’ is pleased to see his team through to the Nedbank Cup last 16 as they target yet another trophy.

“We are happy that we managed to get through to the next round. It wasn’t an easy game. They (Mariveni) were very defensive, but we managed to get the required goals to get us through to the next round," he stressed.

“And we are grateful that we were able to go through to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup. So we are happy to be on course to win yet another cup,” Mabunda concluded.
