South Africa head coach Stuart Baxter is pleased after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) decided to postpone some matches in March 2019.

This will allow Baxter to have extra time to prepare Bafana Bafana for their crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Libya.

"I'm eternally grateful to the PSL and the clubs for being so cooperative. What it does is give me a chance to have an extra couple of sessions," Baxter told BBC.

According to the latest reports, the PSL will postpone three league games involving South Africa national team players.

A match between SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs, an encounter between Bloemfontein Celtic and Bidvest Wits as well as a game between Cape Town City and Polokwane City which are scheduled for March 16-17 will reportedly be postponed.

"We are going to get there as quickly as possible. Whatever shenanigans we might have to face, let's get that over and done with sooner rather than later," he said.

SuperSport duo Dean Furman and Aubrey Modiba, Chiefs full-back Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Bidvest Wits trio Darren Keet, Thulani Hatlshwayo and Buhle Mkhwanazi are all expected to be included in Baxter's squad.

"We'll deal with it and acclimatise. It will be a smaller group at the beginning, not the whole squad but I still think that is preferable to what we would usually get," he concluded.

Bafana will qualify for the continental tournament if they avoid defeat against Libya.
