Amajita will have their work cut out at the global showpiece event after learning the identities of their opponents

The draw for the upcoming Fifa U20 World Cup took place on Sunday night and has thrown up a tricky draw for the South Africa U20 national team in particular.

Amajita, as they are affectionately known recently earned the bronze medal at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, subsequently booking their ticket to Poland for the showpiece event set for later this year.

Along with eventual tournament winners Mali, losing finalist Senegal and Nigeria, the Southern African nation will look to build on their previous performances at the global showpiece event.

Amajita’s best ever finish was in the 2009 edition of the tournament where they booked their place in the knockout rounds.

However, repeating that feat won’t be easy this time around for the nation from the Cosafa region as they have been pitted against giants such as Portugal, Argentina and Korea Republic.

The tournament is set to take place from May 23 until June 15 and will certainly give Amajita some much-needed exposure as the future generation of South African footballers look to make a name for themselves on the world stage.
