Victor Wanyama missed reaching the FA Cup final by a whisker when Tottenham Hotspur fell to Chelsea on Saturday

Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama was a match away from playing in the FA Cup final for what could have possibly turn out to be his first cup victory in England.

The Harambee Stars Captain was in Southampton from 2013 to June 2016 when he joined Tottenham Hotspur, a team he has been very instrumental for with hopes of lifting at least a trophy in the season.

On Saturday, he (with the Spurs) met Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals but goals from Willian, Eden Hazard and Nemanja Matić gave the Antonio Cante managed side a 4-2 win against the Mauricio Pochettino’s outfit.

Interestingly, the Saturday’s loss was Spurs’ seventh consecutive defeat at FA Cup’s semi-final – which sets a new record for futility.

Wanyama, will now have to stay hopeful of Tottenham Hotspur’s quest to win the Premier League title where Chelsea still top with six matches to go. The Spurs are second with four points as the difference.
