Shooting Stars, El Kanemi Warriors stand a bright chance, admits Amoo

Ahead of their Matchday 15 topflight encounter at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Fatai Amoo has given El Kanemi Warriors an equal chance as Shooting Stars.

The Maiduguri side are one of the season's surpurise, sitting in third place, a point off the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

And Fatai Amoo says that as must as his team stands a ‘bright chance’ to win, the visitors also does.

“Sincerely speaking both teams stand a bright chance because a game of football is different from a one-plus-one matter. Whatever bright chance we have we must bury it and because we are not perfect we have to imbibe a winning spirit so as to win, and same applies to El Kanemi,” Amoo told Goal.

“So for me we have to put in a lot of effort that can earn us the three points. If we can do that we will definitely have the day.

“We can’t do less because doing less will not give us the three points. We are very much aware of how good El Kanemi Warriors are. They are the team occupying the third position so this sort of match is going to bring the best in us and hopefully we get a victory,” he added.

The Oluyole Warriors had their unbeaten run of six games halted by Nasarawa United on Matchday 14 but the gaffer has dispelled suggestions that they want to embark on another run as he aims for positive results on a game-by-game basis.

“We are looking at things from our own perspective as a football club that we want to do well in every game; not focusing on unbeaten runs,” he said.

“At home we want to do well, same goes for away fixtures and doing well means you have to win anywhere you are. And that’s what we are looking for. Now we lost at Nasarawa, it was painful. They worked to earn their points. So we also want to work and win, game after game."

He continues: “The next hurdle now is El Kanemi Warriors so we have to do everything humanly possible to win, so if the unbeaten run comes, good. But what we are after is doing all humanly possible to win at home and going outside to get a win or draw.

“So if at the end of the day, it all comes to unbeaten run I think it is good but our major aim and objective is to do well in every game,” he concluded.
