An agreement has finally been reached in the dispute between Selangor and the Indonesian FA (PSSI) regarding the signings of Indonesia internationals Evan Dimas Darmono and Ilham Udin Armaiyn.

According to the federation's official website, following the meeting between Selangor president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal and PSSI chief Edy Rahmayadi in Jakrata, Indonesia on Wednesday, the Malaysian club will release the two players when they are called up to the Indonesia national team for the 2018 Asian Games, a competition that is not an official FIFA tournament.

"Selangor will follow the PSSI chief's instructions regarding scheduling and player release duration, which will be set by the federation. I am grateful for the reception and hospitality shown during my visit," said Subahan as quoted by the website.

Edy too was pleased with the visit by Subahan, who is also the deputy president of the Malaysian FA (FAM).

"PSSI would like to express our gratitude for the visit and Selangor's willingness to agree with our instructions, especially when Indonesia will host the Asian Games.

"We hope that the relationship between PSSI and Selangor as well as FAM will become closer, as part of the Southeast Asian football family," he remarked.

Although Evan and Ilham should now be able to join Selangor's pre-season without any obstacles, the Red Giants' problem is far from over. Should both of them be called up for the Asian Games and to the preceding training camp with Indonesia, it will leave Selangor head coach Maniam Pachaiappan with only two foreign players in his squad at certain points of the 2018 season, as he had revealed to Goal last month that he will only use four foreign players this coming season, as opposed to the maximum allowed five.
