Singapore’s number one had little to do but was reliable when called upon. Displayed huge confidence in gathering the ball from corners and set-pieces.
Shakir Hamzah 6
Was afforded freedom to leave his defensive position and contribute in attack. At times his decision to move forward proved costly.
Zulqarnaen Suzliman 7
Another solid shift from the youngster as he was dependable in attack and defence. Really is making a name for himself in this tournament.
Izzdin Shafiq 6
Had a quiet night by his standards but the Home United captain was solid as always in midfield. His range of passing helped set the tempo for the Lions.
Hariss Harun 6
Almost opened the scoring in the opening minutes of the game but his shot on the edge of the penalty area went wide. Put in a decent shift and was as dependable as ever. Truly the heartbeat of this Singapore side.
Irfan Fandi 6
Could have done better to prevent Timor Leste from scoring but was a rock at the heart of the Lions’ defence as he kept the Timorese at bay. Needs to cut out his one or two moments of sloppiness especially with Thailand coming up next.
Khairul Amri 7
The veteran marksman was a constant livewire, reminding Singaporeans that he still has it. His link-up play with Ikhsan Fandi was a joy to watch. A pity he doesn’t have the legs to carry on for 90 minutes. Should start the next game.
Ikhsan Fandi 8
Ikhsan finally ended his goal drought and will no doubt have his confidence boosted after scoring twice. His overhead kick was truly sublime as he reminded Singaporeans that he is the real deal.
Safuwan Baharudin 9
Safuwan was a towering presence in this game and his aerial ability was on full display against the Timorese. Scored a hat-trick and had a near perfect game but for Timor Leste’s sole goal in the tie.
Gabriel Quak 6
Not the best of outings for Gabriel but you can’t fault his work rate. He looks a man reborn and will need to be at his full best against Thailand. Held on the ball for too long against the Timorese and will need to be more decisive.
Zulfahmi Arifin 8
Getting his first start of the tournament and its easy to see why Fandi Ahmad brought him into the team. His delivery from set-pieces was on point and created numerous goal scoring opportunities for his teammates.
Nazrul Nazari 5
Came on to replace Gabriel Quak and impressed with his work rate which allowed the Lions to go for the jugular.
Faris Ramli 7
Brought on for Amri and immediately impressed with his pace. Managed to even get on the scoresheet, highlighting his value to the team.
Iqbal Hussain
Entered the game too late and could not make an impact.
