The Spaniard believes he complements his French team-mate well in the Red Devils engine room and hopes there is more to come from them and the club

Ander Herrera considers Manchester United team-mate Paul Pogba to have “everything” and believes they work well together as a pair.

The pair were afforded plenty of opportunities to mould a midfield understanding in 2016-17, with both considered to be key men by Jose Mourinho.

Herrera has been asked to fill more of a holding role for the Red Devils, and thrived in that position, while Pogba is expected to dictate proceedings from the centre of the park.

Questions have been asked of the £89 million signing, but his team-mates are aware of his value and hope there will be plenty more successes to come with him as a focal point of the side – having secured three trophies in Mourinho’s debut season at the helm.

Herrera told Sport 360 on his partnership with Pogba: “It is easy to play with him, he is a top player.

“He likes to attack more than me so when we both play together I have to protect the defence more.

“I try to keep my position more because you know Paul has the ability to score; the ability to head, to shoot, to dribble – he has everything.

“I think we have a good partnership, hopefully we can play together for a long time and win trophies for the club.”

Herrera made 50 appearances across all competitions in the 2016/17 campaign, while Pogba took in 51 fixtures.

'Rooney has plenty offer England'

The Frenchman contributed nine goals, while his more defensive colleague found the target on two occasions.

Herrera’s efforts have seen him linked with a return to his homeland at Barcelona, but he remains fully committed to the United cause.

He added: “I have been really happy at United since the first day. The only thing I can do is to give everything every game and every minute of the time I am on the pitch.”
