Platinum Stars sign Gerald Phiri Jr from Bidvest Wits

The 24-year-old makes a return to Rustenburg after being deemed surplus to requirements at the Clever Boys

Platinum Stars have announced the signing of Gerald Phiri Junior from Bidvest Wits. 

The Malawian winger returns to Dikwena following a short stint with his parent club at the start of the of the season. 

Wits loaned Phiri Jr to the Rustenburg-based outfit last season, but they recalled him for the 2017/18 PSL campaign. 

However, the left-footed player struggled for game time and the Johannesburg-based club decided to let him return to Dikwena. 

Roger de Sa's side needs all the help in the world as they currently find themselves at the bottom of the PSL log. 

They recently lost Siyabonga Zulu to Mamelodi Sundowns, while Katlego Otladisa will move to Chloorkop in the new season as he's still out injured.

Benson Shilongo and Gift Links have both also been sold to Egyptian club Asyouty Sport.

Earlier this month, Dikwena signed Zama Rambuwane from SuperSport United in an attempt to bolster their squad and possibly beat the drop come May 2018.
