Platinum Stars - Orlando Pirates Preview: Improving Bucs eye second spot

Dikwena are eager to end their three-match winless run at home, while Bucs will be hoping to continue their good away form

Platinum Stars will square off with Orlando Pirates in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) encounter at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Dikwena's struggles in the league continued as they lost 3-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in an enthralling game which was played in Tshwane last weekend.

This was Stars' third consecutive defeat in their last five league matches. They have registered four defeats and one win during their current run.

Roger de Sa's side is placed 16th on the league standings with 15 points from 18 matches. They are three points behind 14th-placed Bidvest Wits.

Dikwena are the lowest scoring team in the league having scored 10 goals and they have often found the back of the net in the final 15 minutes of the first half, and within the first 15 minutes of the second-half.

The 2013 MTN8 Cup champions average 0.56 per game having failed to score at home seven times this season. They have conceded 22 goals in 18 league games - an average of 1.22 goals conceded per game.

Meanwhile, Pirates were frustrated by a stubborn Polokwane City side in their previous league game which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Orlando Stadium last weekend.

The Buccaneers are now unbeaten in their last three league games. They have recorded two wins and one draw during their current run.

As a result, Pirates are placed sixth on the league standings with 27 points from 18 matches. They are only three points behind second-placed Cape Town City.

Milutin Sredojevic's side has scored 18 times this season and they have often netted 15 minutes before half-time, and in the final 15 minutes of their games. Lyle Foster's 87th minute goal helped Bucs hold Rise and Shine to a 1-1 draw last weekend.

They average 1.00 per game having failed to score on the road three times this season. The four-time PSL champions have conceded 14 goals in 18 league matches - an average of 0.78 goals conceded per game.
