Pahang did not wait long to do what is necessary to ensure they get to play at night in 2018.
Following initial announcement by M-League organiser Football Malaysia LLP (FMLLP) last Thursday that six Malaysian venues, including Pahang homeground the Darul Makmur Stadium, will not be able to hold night kick offs this season due to insufficient pitch lighting, the body on Monday announced that Pahang will get to host their home matches at night after all.
FMLLP issued a statement on Monday saying that the Elephants have issued a request for another lighting check to be conducted last Friday, January 12, and FMLLP obliged by conducting it on the very same day.
And from the second examination, FMLLP decided that the lighting around the pitch meets the 1,200 lux requirement, which means that the 2017 FA Cup finalists will get to play their home matches at night this season.
"It must be stated that the check was conducted in the presence of the venue and Pahang representatives. (Therefore) the result is not something that can be fudged or fabricated. It is FMLLP's hope that no one will use the result and decision for their own agenda.
"However, FMLLP would like to congratulate the venue's management and Pahang for ensuring that the second examination ends with a positive result.
"It is imperative for FMLLP and Pahang that league matches are held at night, to ensure maximum crowd turnout, as well as to increase the value of the team and the league," stated FMLLP.
