Solinas' men will need to be at their best to end their nine-game winless streak against Bucs, but Micho Sredojevic knows what to do to win on the day

Kaizer Chiefs will take aim at Orlando Pirates when the two Soweto giants lock horns at the Calabash on Saturday afternoon.

This will be the 164th Soweto Derby since 1970, and more eyes will be on Amakhosi to see if they can end their winless streak against the Sea Robbers.

Amakhosi find themselves in third position on the log, two points behind their arch-rivals, but whoever wins on the day will not move to the summit of the standings.

This is because Bidvest WIts stretched their lead at the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Highlands Park on Friday.

The result left Pirates four points behind Wits while Chiefs are six points further on 14 points.

Squads & Team News

Leonardo Castro, Kaizer Chiefs

Leonardo Castro returned to the training grounds on Monday after being out of action for almost a month, and the Colombian marksman is expected to feature against the Buccaneers.

Apart from Joseph Molangoane, who is nursing a long-term injury and Teenage Hadebe, who returned from national duty carrying a knock, Chiefs will also be without Lebogang Manyama.

Manyama fractured his arm when he was involved in a car accident just over a week ago, and Giovanni Solinas has confirmed that the attacker will not be part of the team to take on Pirates.

There were concerns about Khama Billiat, who missed last week's match against Black Leopards, but the Zimbabwean frontman is expected to be ready for this clash.

Should he feature, this will be Billiat's first Soweto Derby, and given how he previously enjoyed playing against Pirates whilst on the books of Sundowns, this promises to be an exciting encounter.

Potential Chiefs XI: Khune, Mphahlele, Walusimbi, Ngezana, Cardoso, Katsande, Ntshangase, Zuma, Parker, Billiat, Castro .

Luvuyo Memela & Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Orlando PiratesMeanwhile, Pirates have confirmed that they will be without Luvuyo Memela, who is struggling with injury.

Memela was their hero in the previous Soweto Derby as he came off the bench to score twice to help Pirates beat Chiefs 3-1 at the same venue.

Apart from Memela, Pirates are sweating over the fitness of Musa Nyatama.

According to the club's medical team, Nyatama will undergo a late fitness test before determining his readiness for the match at the Calabash.

Brilliant Khuzwayo has been training with his teammates since last week, but it remains to be seen if he will feature or even make the bench on Saturday afternoon.

The Umlazi-born goalkeeper left Amakhosi for Pirates at the end of last season, and he had been itching to get back to action and making his debut against his former club would be something special.

Potential Pirates XI: Mabokgwane, Matlaba, Maela, Jele, Marcelo, Nyatama, Mlambo, Lorch, Pule, Shonga, Mulenga.

Match Preview

Itumeleng Khune - Kaizer Chiefs

The two Soweto giants have met 163 times in the past with Chiefs recording 67 wins to Pirates' 39 while a whopping 52 matches ended in draws.

During that time, five other matches were played but eventually abondoned for various reasons.

Chiefs have scored 210 goals against Pirates, while conceding 172, but in recent seasons, the black and white half of Soweto has been dominant.

Pirates are unbeaten against Chiefs in the last nine competitive matches, with Amakhosi's last win over their nemesis coming in December 2014.

Trophy-wise, both teams have been strugggling - Pirates have not won a major trophy since their Nedbank Cup triumph in 2014, while Chiefs last won a trophy in 2015.
