Orlando Pirates have reinforced their squad with three players from Chippa United.

Defender James Okwuosa, wing-back Marc van Heerden and striker Thembinkosi Lorch have all joined the Sea Robbers, club chairman Dr Irvin Khoza told City Press.

Khoza said the club decided to sign Van Heerden "as a cover for Thabo Matlaba and Patrick Phungwayo".

Lorch was on loan at the Port Elizabeth-based outfit, and the club brought him back to try and lift the pressure off Tendai Ndoro, who has been scoring goals for fun this season.

"We realised our shortcomings at the back hence we went for Okwuosa and we want Marc as a cover for Patrick [Phungwayo] and Thabo [Matlaba]. We have not been consistent in that department, but hopefully our problems would be solved," Khoza said.

The Bucs boss also confirmed that Justice Chabalala would join the Chilli Boys on loan for the remainder of the season.

Media reports suggest that Chabalala will be joined by Nkosinathi Mthiyane, Sello Japhta and Donaldo Mokondelela.

However, nothing has been confirmed by the Buccaneers.

Meanwhile, Khoza revealed they are hoping to sign a new coach before the end of the current month.

Khoza said he has been in talks with 10 different coaches, but he didn't to reveal their names. Three of those are believed to be local coaches.

"We are hoping to have the new coach by the end of the month," he revealed.

"It is not easy to get someone who can coach Pirates, but I am confident we will have someone soon," added Khoza.
