Parramatta Melita Eagles have confirmed senior player John Odisho has passed away after being shot in Five Dock on Tuesday.

Odisho was one of two people attacked with the 25-year-old's life support ultimately turned off after he was shot in the head. 

Parramatta FC's club president David Frendo confirming the tragic news on social media on Tuesday night. 

"It with deep sadness that we share with you all some devastating news," Frendo wrote on Facebook.  

"Senior player John Odisho has sadly lost his life in a horrific incident in Five Dock earlier this week.

"John, whom returned to Parramatta FC this season was considered a key signing for our 2019 season.

"On behalf of the Parramatta Melita Eagles Sports Club Board, I offer our heartfelt condolences to John’s family, his friends and to all personnel involved with John during his time at our club.

"Due to the serious nature and the circumstances relating to the incident leading to John’s passing, PMESC and its board will not be making any further comments, public nor private.

The Melita Eagles currently compete in division 3 of the NSW NPL. 

Police are still investigating the reasons behind the shooting with one man being questioned after admitting himself to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
