Nigeria arrive in France for U20 Women’s World Cup

The Falconets are the second African side to hit the European nation for the age-grade tournament on their ninth attempt for World Cup glory

Nigeria U20 women national team on Thursday evening landed in France for the 2018 Fifa U20 Women's World Cup that starts on August 5.

The nation’s delegation comprising of 21 players and 11 officials hit Dinard, a suburb of Saint Malo, where they will play their World Cup opener against Germany on August 6.

The Falconets qualified for the ninth edition as African representatives alongside Ghana and are set for their ninth appearance at the global stage.

In the build-up to the tournament, the African side embarked on a successful 12-day training tour in Austria, defeating topflight sides - FC Berghiem 3-0 and FC Wacker Innsbruck 4-0.

Christopher Danjuma’s side has been accommodated at Dinard and will be looking to replicate the superb form when they take on Germany, Haiti, and China in Group D.

They joined their African neighbours, Ghana who earlier arrived France on Wednesday and will bid to negotiate past hosts nation France, debutantes Netherlands and New Zealand in Group A.

Meanwhile, the Falconets will lock horns with three-time world champions Germany for their Group D opener in Saint Malo before further clashes against debutantes Haiti and Asian giants China.
