Exactly a year after hosting Chelsea at Optus Stadium, Perth Glory will welcome Manchester United to town in July next year with the club expecting it to be a bigger occasion than the Blues' visit.

Chelsea beat Glory 1-0 in July this year in front of 55,000 fans and Western Australia have acted quickly to secure another big fixture.

Leeds United will also face off against United in Perth with Glory's CEO Tony Pignata of the belief the Red Devils' visit will attract even more fans.

"Massive news to play a team like Manchester United in Perth," Pignata said.

"It’s sensational and it’s fantastic for the city of Perth and Perth Glory.

"Chelsea, you know, 55,000 was sensational. I think Man United is going to be at another level definitely and you are going to get fans from all over Australia, coming to the game, coming to Perth and watching the Perth Glory in action as well."

Glory didn't embarrass themselves against the Blues in July and though Pignata was quick to shift the focus away from the result, he didn't rule out a potential upset against the Red Devils.

"Why not? They are coming in for pre-season as well as we and it’s not always about the results," he said.

"But it’s a great way to start our campaign for 2019/20 as well."

This will be United's fifth visit to Australia and second time to Perth with their last trip Down Under coming in 2013.

The Red Devils will play Glory on July 13 and Leeds United on July 18 with both games to take place at Optus Stadium.

After enjoying a strong pre-season that included their clash with Chelsea, Glory are soaring in the A-League and currently sit top of the table under new coach Tony Popovic.
