Mooy: A-League players can play in the Championship & Premier League

Huddersfield play-off hero Aaron Mooy believes that the A-League possesses plenty of talented players who could make the step up to a higher level.

However, the on-loan Manchester City midfielder warned that there is a huge mental demand on players to cope with the pressures of leagues such as the Premier League and Championship.

Mooy showed his capacity to handle pressure as he scored a spot-kick in Huddersfield's play-off final penalty-shoot-out win over Reading on Monday.

While he is confident that Australian players can make the step up, he admits that a player's capacity can only be discovered when the transition is actually made.

"I think there are definitely players in the A-League who have quality," Mooy said after his side's play-off victory.

"The difference is mental, because the amount of games, the competitiveness, the pressure is 10 times (what it is in the A-League).

"There's definitely lots of talented players in the A-League, but until they go and find out if they can do it in a higher league we won't know."

After helping Huddersfield secure promotion, Australia international Mooy, 26, will be aiming to take the next step in his career by playing in the Premier League next season.

However, he has admitted that he does not know whether that will be at Man City or elsewhere.
