Ingwe have won five league matches in a row, but their last win against Gor Mahia was way back in 2016

AFC Leopards coach Rodolfo Zapata is determined to bring down Gor Mahia in the league derby on Saturday.

Ingwe are yet to beat K’Ogalo in the league since 2016 when they won by a solitary goal at Kasarani and the Argentine coach has vowed to end the bad run. In a strong message on his twitter account, Zapata has termed the match a ‘must win battle.’

Zapata will be in charge of AFC Leopards for the second derby after he lost the first leg 2-1 and will miss the services of at least key seven players for the 4pm kick-off tie. Striker Ezekiel Odera is the latest to be ruled out through a ban, while Jaffery Awiti and Robinson Kamura are long term absentees.

On Thursday, Zapata told Goal that they are ready for the battle. “I usually say this team is one of the biggest in not only Kenya but Africa at large. Against Gor Mahia, we have to show character, we have to push ourselves to the maximum and show we are better.

“This is a game I believe we can win, we have had an amazing run and confidence is good. The determination is there, we lost the first leg and we believe we can do much better and get a positive outcome.”

A draw for Gor Mahia will ensure that they win a record 17th league title with seven matches to spare.
