Man City vs Liverpool: TV channel, live stream, squad news & preview

Manchester City and Liverpool will be looking to make amends when they meet in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday having both lost their opening fixtures to Borussia Dortmund.

The Premier League clubs will go head-to-head at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, after both being beaten by the Bundesliga outfit.

Pep Guardiola's City fell to Dortmund 1-0 in Chicago, while Jurgen Klopp's reunion with his former club ended in a 3-1 defeat in Charlotte.

Wednesday's meeting will provide both sides with a taste of a fellow Premier League title contender as the two are the favourites to lift the trophy at the end of the upcoming season.

Phil Foden, Eric Garcia and Brahim Diaz were all used during City's meeting with Dortmund, while summer signing Riyad Mahrez registered his first minutes for the club as a substitute.

Joe Hart, Patrick Roberts and Leroy Sane also appeared from the bench, the latter having not travelled to Russia with the Germany national team of the 2018 World Cup.

Klopp has a number of new faces in his squad this summer and should give most of those game time in the remainder of the ICC.

Naby Keita and Fabinho both took to the field for the Reds for the first time against Dortmund, the former starting the game and the latter coming on as a substitute.

While the Russia World Cup means a number of players are unavailable for the tournament, the finals in Russia were relatively kind to the Reds.

Jordan Henderson, Dejan Lovren, Roberto Firmino, Simon Mignolet and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been given a break while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a long-term absentee.

Wednesday's meeting with City will be Liverpool's sixth of their pre-season campaign as Klopp continues to drill his new-look squad.

The Reds have recorded victories over Chester, Tranmere and Blackburn, while a goalless draw was played out with Bury before the club's 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

Reds target Christian Pulisic struck twice against his potential new employers, with 19-year-old Jacob Bruun Larsen adding a third deep into added time in the second half.

After facing City in the International Champions Cup, the Reds’ time in America will also see them clash with bitter rivals Manchester United in Michigan on July 28.

Liverpool have finished as runners-up in the North America and Europe section of the ICC on two previous occasions, losing out to United and Paris Saint-Germain in 2014 and 2016, so will be hoping to go one better this time around.

City came close to winning the North America section of the International Champions Cup in 2017, losing out only to Barcelona in last year's competition.

Guardiola's side lost their Manchester derby 2-0 against United before beating Real Madrid 4-1 and Tottenham 3-0, returning for the domestic season as ICC runners-up.

Wednesday's clash may not be an indicator as to who will lift the Premier League trophy in May next year, but it will provide us with a timely update as to how the two have transformed from the end of last season.
