The Black Star was named on the prestigious list as the season draws to a close
Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris was named in the French Ligue 1 Team of the Week following a brilliant showing with his side FC Nantes against Olympique Lyonnais on Friday.
The Canaries humbled their visitors 2-1, with Waris providing an assist, which earned him the right winger spot in a four-man midfield, which includes Luiz Gustavo (Olympique Marseille), Thiago Mendes (Olympique Lyonnais) and Wahbi Khazri (Saint Etienne).
Waris, 27, who joined Nantes on loan from Portuguese side FC Porto in October 2018, is hoping to be named by coach Kwesi Appiah in Ghana’s final squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group F against Benin, Guinea-Bissau and Cameroon, and will pitch camp in Qatar for three weeks before heading for the tournament in Egypt.
Waris has earned 32 caps for Ghana, scoring four goals since he debuted in 2012.
