Selebwa, who was with the team last season, has left the Den on mutual agreement. “I can confirm that we have parted ways with AFC Leopards on mutual agreement.
"I want to pursue a coaching course and I sat down with Ingwe officials and agreed that we leave each other in peace. I want to wish the team all the best in the new season,” Selebwa told Goal.com in an interview.
The exit of Selebwa comes hours after Goal exclusively reported that more changes were expected at The Den before the new season kicks-off on December 8. Goal understands that striker Ezekiel Odera could be on his way out as well as assistant coach Tom Juma.
Odera, who signed for Ingwe last season from Nairobi City Stars, is said to be forcing a move to join Tusker, a decision that has irritated new coach Nicola Kavazovic. A source privy to happenings at the Den confirmed that the coach has asked the management to let go of the player.
“The only news as at yesterday (Monday) is that striker Ezekiel Odera might be dropped. He has been reporting late to training and sometimes even does not show up a move that has irritated the new coach.”
The source added, “Gilbert Selebwa and Tom Juma might also not stay. There are plans to restructure the technical bench and the club is looking beyond the two. The changes could be made public in the coming weeks.”
AFC Leopards will be seeking for a better season, after bringing in a new coach and have also signed a couple of players. Ingwe will start the league with a clash against Kakamega Homeboyz on December 8.
