KFC Moments of the Day
The action just keeps on getting better but there is only room for just two KFC Moments of the Day

The global football extravaganza is reaching its business end, but with so much at stake the action on the pitch remains as exciting as ever.

Shocks and upsets are again the order of the day, with the gap between football’s elite and the rest of the teams narrowing.

KFC Moment 1

While Korea were unlikely to go through as they needed other results to go their way, the Asian side showed true grit and determination. It was very difficult to single out one moment that stood out, rather it was a truly collective effort as they fought tooth and nail, frustrating their opponents.

Their tenacity and stubbornness was eventually rewarded at the death as Kim Young-gwon found the back of the net latching onto a loose ball and placed it past Manuel Neuer. The victory would then be capped off by another Korea goal. Germany would push men forward in search of salvation and Son Heung-min was played through on goal as Neuer was dispossessed in the opposition half, and the attacker made no mistake.

Although, the result was not enough for Korea Republic to advance, the victory would ensure that the defending champions crashed out at the first hurdle, a small consolation for Korea who struggled throughout the tournament.

KFC Moment 2

Staying with the theme of grit, determination and a never say die attitude, Sweden earned the right to be on our list as they showed a gutsy performance to book their place in the next round. With the odds stacked against them, the Scandinavian’s held firm and survived several nervy moments particularly in the first half.

However, their determination would eventually be rewarded as Ludwig Augustinsson, Andreas Granqvist and an Edson Alvarez's own goal rescued their campaign. While it wasn’t a single moment that stood out once again it was the entire Swedish team who deserved their moment in the sun as they dropped down to the ground in sheer joy and exhaustion after the final whistle sounded, knowing that they would advance into the knockout rounds.
