Kakamega Homeboys chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has hailed his players after tossing out Tanzania's Young Africans in the Super Cup.

Homeboys thrashed Yanga 3-1 at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru sending the latter back to Dar.

Following the victory, Shimanyula is optimistic of similar performance in the semis. “We are very happy for the win. This is a big motivation for our team. I feel glad that a team without a sponsor can down an East African giant,” Shimanyula told Goal.

Allan Wanga's brace and Wycliffe Opondo’s goal guaranteed Homeboys a place in the last four of the tourney where they will meet either Kariobangi Sharks or Tanzania's league champions Simba SC.

"We are ready for anyone. There is no worry in our camp. Bring on Simba, AFC Leopards or Gor Mahia.”

Day one results of the Super Cup in Nakuru means that two Kenyan teams have booked semis place after defending champions Gor Mahia sunk Jeshi La Kujenga Uchumi from Zanzibar 3-0 in the second match.
