Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele is targeting more Bafana Bafana caps under the new coach, who will be announced after the friendly game against Angola on Tuesday.

“Hopefully I will earn more caps. The only thing I can do is to perform and hope that whoever selects the team, and is looking for a right-back, thinks of me,” Mphahlele told Sowetan.

‘Rama’ made his Bafana debut last year under former coach Shakes Mashaba when they thumped Gambia 4-0 away in Banjul, while still on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Having captained all of the country’s junior national sides, Mphahlele should be one of the senior players in the Bafana squad.

“I captained the u-17s and u20s from start to finish. I only captained the u-23 team in one match,” Mphahlele said.

The 28-year-old, who has seven caps, will be in line to make yet another appearance when Bafana welcome Angola in East London on Tuesday.
