Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Khuzwayo upbeat after successful surgery

Amakhosi report that Khuzwayo is recovering well after undergoing surgery to his ankle, and the shot-stopper remains positive despite the injury

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo doesn't see his injury setback 'as a tragedy', but as an experience he intends to use to come back stronger.

The 27-year-old suffered an ankle injury during Amakhosi's 3-0 win over Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup, and had to go under the knife last Friday.

He's expected to be out of competitive action for the next eight weeks, but the South Africa international remains positive.

Khuzwayo will miss this weekend's encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns having already began his road to recovery.

Third-choice keeper Luthando Sixhaso is again expected to deputize for Itumeleng Khune against the Brazilians on Saturday.

"Lots of people see this as a tragedy," Khuzwayo told the Amakhosi website.

"However, for me it is another experience that I have to go through. I look at it in two ways – I can be disappointed but I choose to look forward to return to action much stronger," he said.

“I will live to tell the story of positivity. I am an athlete and injuries are part of the game,” concluded Khuzwayo.

Khuzwayo's injury will no doubt be seen a test of character and depth in the goalkeeping department at Chiefs.
