Okello is among the six players, who were released by the Brewers after the completion of the first leg.
Goal has reliably learnt that Okello tendered a resignation letter last week and he could link up with former Tusker coach Francis Kimanzi at Goan Institute.
Mathare was left with only two goalkeepers following the departure of Wycliffe Kasaya to Sofapaka and Kimanzi is said to have turned his sight on the custodian to bolster his goalkeeping department.
“Okello was not released, but rather asked to leave the club after tendering a resignation letter. He could be heading to Mathare,” a source at Tusker told Goal.
A source at Mathare United told Goal that the club would like to strengthen the department, but nothing is official yet. “We have only two goalkeepers at the moment which is not safe but if we make any signing then we’ll make it official.”
Kimanzi is currently away in India with the national team, Harambee Stars.
