Mohun Bagan U-19 side defeated Bengal Football Academy in their second match of the ongoing IFA Shield 2019 in a Group B clash at the Barasat Stadium on Monday.
Kaushik Santra scored the opening goal of the match from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute. Sourav Das was fouled inside the penalty box by an opponent defender and the referee did not hesitate to point towards the spot. Santra calmly found the back of the net.
Bagan dominated proceedings in the match although Bengal Football Academy got their fair share of chances to equalise. One of their shots came off the bar in the first half.
Deep Saha scored the final goal of the match in the 90th minute from a Subha Ghosh cross. Saha dribbled past his marker and found the back of the net.
This is Mohun Bagan’s second win on the trot after their thumping 7-1 victory over Churchill Brothers in their first game. With the win, Mohun Bagan remain top of Group B with six points from two matches and have confirmed their place in the last four.
Tata Football Academy (TFA) are second with three points from one game. They had defeated Bengal Football Academy 4-3 in their first match.
On Tuesday, in another Group B encounter, Churchill Brothers face TFA. Mohun Bagan play their final game on July 12 against TFA at the Barasat Stadium.
