Jamie Redknapp was almost out of superlatives for N'Golo Kante, asking budding footballers to base their game on the Chelsea star instead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kante is the best player in the Premier League

The midfielder has been outstanding for Chelsea this season, playing every Premier League game for the Blues this term bar one due to suspension as Antonio Conte's men lead the standings.

Kante is on course to pick up consecutive Premier League titles, adding to the one he played a key part in winning with Leicester City last term before moving to Stamford Bridge.

And Redknapp has now hailed how complete his game is, describing his characteristics as unique and urging youngsters to hone their all-round game like him instead of focusing on one single aspect.

Do PSG have CL chance without Ibrahimovic?

"Kante is Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Claude Makelele rolled into one. I've never seen a player like him. All action, all over the pitch," the former Liverpool midfielder wrote in the Daily Mail.

"When parents tell their children, 'Watch Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi', that is unrealistic. What they should be doing is pointing them toward Kante's showreel.

"Young players these days will say 'I am a defensive midfielder', but why do they do that? Kante is a midfielder. Not attacking, not defensive. I've never seen a player with so much energy, chasing lost causes and turning over possession.

Lampard wishes he was worth as much as Pogba at 23

"My advice would be: watch him, do not pigeonhole yourself as a defensive midfielder. Work on your all-round game.

"Kante is small, quiet and unassuming off the field, but when he walks on to the pitch, it's as if he is wearing a cape. He is Chelsea's Mighty Mouse. And it is your worst nightmare to play against him.

"He is a modern-day phenomenon. Watching him makes me happy to be retired - imagine him closing you down for 90 minutes!"
