The Gunners' all-time leading goalscorer is among those to have been mentioned as a possible successor to the outgoing Arsene Wenger

Roberto Martinez says Thierry Henry "will always be a successful person" amid reports he is a candidate to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

A move to bring the Gunners’ all-time leading goalscorer back to Emirates Stadium would represent some shift in philosophy, as the club prepares to part with Wenger.

The long-serving Frenchman is set to step aside after nearly 22 years at the helm and Henry, who has been billed as a possible successor , is yet to fill any managerial post.

He has cut his coaching teeth alongside Martinez with the Belgian national side, though, and the former France international is considered to be a potential star manager of the future.

"Thierry is a passionate man for football, he lives football. Any role that he takes in football, he will make it succeed," former Everton and Swansea boss Martinez told talkSPORT .

"He is very intelligent and he has that approachability. He connects with players.

"Thierry identifies how he can use his own experiences with players and that is going to be a big strength in his coaching career.

"He is huge asset to the Belgium national team, especially for the experience he has had in major tournaments."

Henry has refused to rule himself out of the running for the vacancy in north London that will open up this summer.

A lack of experience may work against him, given the calibre of candidates also being linked with the post, but Martinez hopes he will get a chance to prove his worth at some stage.

He added: "The way Thierry works, he will always be a successful person.

"We have been working now for two years and you can see he is very natural on the training ground and coaching."
