Following their away draw against the Savannah Scorpions, the forward has backed his side to make a huge improvement against Abia Warriors on Sunday

Shooting Stars’ Nonso Mbakwe believes his side can consolidate on their 1-1 away draw against Gombe United when they welcome Abia Warriors on Sunday.

The teenager equalized in the 92nd minute to cancel the hosts' opener to ensure the Oluyole Warriors' picked their third draw in last four trips away from home.

The excited forward is confident they can return to winning ways against Abdullahi Biffo's men in Ibadan to bring to an end to their winless run in last six games this season.

“The game was a good one for us,” Mbakwe told Goal.  “We are happy to get something from the game and I was very happy to get the goal against Gombe United.''

“We were a goal down and we were desperate to come back into the game. We never give up and I was lucky to get the goal for the team.

“It will really inspire us to improve and turn things around quickly. Like we have not lost our last four games and yet to lose in three of our last four away games.

“We just need to start winning our home game and we have known each other better. We are playing good football now - it is just a matter of getting the result.

“At the end of the first round, we hope to be a good position on the log.”

Shooting Stars are 18th on the log with 12 points from 12 games so far and a win against the Uchendu Warriors could move them out of the bottom four.
