Godwin Obaje eager to help Ifeanyi Ubah progress

The Anambra Warriors' forward insists he is not moved by his barren spell but is charged to help them maintain their bright form

Godwin Obaje says he is not disturbed by his poor scoring form but he is keen on helping Ifeanyi Ubah's maintain their recent progress in Nigerian topflight.

Last seaon, Obaje scored 19 goals win the topscorer's prize, but his inconsistency has seen him fall behind in the goal king race this term.

"We are very happy to see a draw against Lobi Stars," Obaje told Goal.

"That was our aim going to Markudi and we are delighted to achieve our target. We played very well against Lobi, though it was not an easy feat for us but we gave our best to get the result.

"Nothing has happened to my scoring form. I'm doing well though the goals have not been coming but I'm confident it will start coming. Sometimes, it does happen and that’s football.

"But I’m happy the team is doing well now which is more important. We had a rough start to our campaign this season because we had a lot of new boys in the team.

"Gladly, we are already blending gradually. We have gone five games unbeaten and we hope to build on the form in the second half of the season.

"I'm very much interested in scoring goals but if the goals don’t come - I will not bother myself as that's not the most important. What's paramount is to help the team win every game and maintain our current form."
