Giovanni Solinas feels Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana can play for Bafana Bafana

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas reckons Siyabonga Ngezana is ready to don the South African national team jersey.

Ngezana has not been called up to the Bafana Bafana squad for their two 2019 Caf African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Seychelles this month, but the coach says he is one for the future.

“I respect my players. I love my players. And it's the same about Siya [Ngezana]. Yes, for me, he can play in the national team," said Solinas after receiving the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Coach of the Month award on Thursday.

"I don't see too many strong defenders like Siya in the PSL, but this is my opinion. In Bafana, there is a very good coach in Stuart Baxter and he decides,” reacted the coach.

In his latest squad for the two matches, Bafana coach Stuart Baxter opted to select the likes of Buhle Mkhwanazi, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Motjeka Madisha and Siyanda Xulu among others.

However, Solinas believes the Sebokeng-born defender has all the attributes of a great defender although he feels there's still room for improvement in his game for him to catch the eye of the English mentor.

"But, in my opinion, he can play. He's a young player. He needs to improve, but his ability for a defender is unbelievable in my opinon,” continued the Italian.

"He's strong, fast, a good header of the ball. He has good aggression. So, this guy, in my opinion, has everything for a good career, and to play for Bafana Bafana. I repeat, this is my opinion," he concluded.

The former Amakhosi youth development player has been a regular for the senior side this season and has also scored vital goals for the Naturena outfit.
