The West Africans will be forced to fly directly to France for the world championship due to visa acquisition problems

Ghana have scrapped a planned pre-tournament camp in Spain ahead of next month's Fifa Women's Under-20 World Cup in France.

Scheduled to leave for Spain on Wednesday, the contingent were unable to travel due to visa acquisition issues.

And considering that the competition gets underway on August 5, the west Africans have decided to make a direct trip to France.

“Everything is on course in camp and on Monday, they [team] will be leaving for France," head of Fifa/Caf's interim liaison team for Ghana football Kofi Amoah has said.

"Our first match is on August 5 so the important thing now is that the team heads to France.

“If we’re able to leave on Monday, the team will have plenty of time to rest, get used to the weather and probably secure a friendly before the tournament starts."

Ghana will open their tournament against the hosts, six days after touching down in Paris.

The Black Princesses then face the Netherlands on August 8 before rounding off the group exercise against New Zealand four days later.

“If you go on a training tour, it’s a plus for you because it helps for acclimatization and gives you some exposure and all that," Ghana coach Yussif Basigi said.

"If you don’t get [to go] and you travel directly to the tournament early also, I think it also helps in acclimatization, so whatever that comes, we will go by it."

Basigi's outfit will be making their fifth straight appearance at the championship.

The last four, though, all ended in disappointment as the team failed to go pass the group stage.
