Ghana centre-back Nicholas Opoku has sealed a move to Italian topflight Udinese

The 20-year-old makes the switch from Tunisian outfit Club Africain, whom he joined from local side Berekum Chelsea last year.

He teams up with compatriot Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu at Dacia Arena, a ground which notably contributed to the career successes of former stars Stephen Appiah, Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah and Asamoah Gyan.

"Nicholas Opoku is a new Udinese player!," the club announced on Friday.

"The young Ghanaian national defender, born on 8th November 1997, arrives permanently from Club Africain in Tunisia.

"[He] has signed a four-year contract and has already joined the group available to [manager Julio] Velazquez."

Opoku made 20 appearances and notched an assist during his one-year stay in Tunisia.

"Opoku is a defender that has been highlighted in the last year," says Udinese technical director Daniele Prade.

"With 1.90m height and 87kg weight, his important physical attributes mean that he will also help in the air, combining speed and reactivity.

"On orders of Velazquez, he will have the opportunity to put his characteristics to good use."

Opoku, who made his international debut against the United States in a friendly last year, has five appearances for the Black Stars, having featured in their last double-header against World Cup-bound Japan and Iceland
