Asante Kotoko defender Awal Mohammed says he’s happy with life at the Kumasi-based club.

The 28-year-old cancelled his contract with Russian side Arsenal Tula and signed a one-year contract with Kotoko, a club he first represented in 2011 before joining South African PSL outfit Maritzburg United.

“I am very happy with the way things are going with Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League. I am happy to play for this great club once more,” Awal said.

“Every player loves being on the pitch and I am so much delighted that I have been able to put to bed the misunderstanding that happened some time ago behind me. I am playing again and hope to be successful.”

Awal was part of Ghana's squad that participated in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and wants to be back to the national team.

“I have been doing my best recently because I have a special target aside the league. I want to be part of the squad that will represent Ghana at the next Afcon as well as helping the Black Stars to qualify to the 2018 World Cup in Russia,” he said.

Awal boasts of five national team appearances.
