FNB Stadium not available to host Soweto Derby showdown

According to an insider, the upcoming Soweto Derby match could be staged outside of Gauteng

The Telkom Knockout Cup semi-final match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates set for the weekend of November 24 could be played outside of Johannesburg.

Goal has gathered that the match could be taken to Durban or Cape Town due to the unavailability of the FNB Stadium.

“Yes that's correct (on the unavailability of the FNB Stadium). We have the Motsepe Foundation on 24th (November), then Guns N Roses concert and the Global Citizen Festival on December 02,” a source told Goal on Monday.

“The game might go to Cape Town or Durban. However, the PSL and its sponsors have not made a decision and things might change,” concluded the informant.

The Soweto giants are set to meet for the second time this season following their progression in the TKO this past weekend.

Pirates overcame AmaZulu on Saturday night, whilst Chiefs defeated SuperSport United on Sunday.

In addition, the match follows a 2-1 win for the Buccaneers in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) last week and Amakhosi will hope to claim their revenge and reach the final.

Moreover, Goal made attempts to reach SMSA for further clarification regarding the clash but they did not respond at the time of publishing.
