The semi-finals of the FKF Shield Cup will be played at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.
Kariobangi Sharks will take on Ulinzi Stars in the first semi-final at 2pm before defending champions AFC Leopards tackles Sofapaka from 4.15pm. Ulinzi Stars warmed up for the match against Sharks with a 2-0 league win over Gor Mahia on Wednesday.
Ulinzi Stars coach Dunstan Nyaudo is confident that they are in a better position to win the trophy. “All I can say is that we needed this win badly to propel us to the semis of the Shield on Sunday.
"Yes, I rested some of my key players because of that game against Kariobangi Sharks, it is our only hope of representing the nation in the continentals next year,” Nyaudo told Goal.
Ingwe coach Rodolfo Zapata has vowed to work on the team’s striking force before their match against Batoto ba Mungu. "With the FKF Shield coming next, we really need to work on our striking force if we hope to reach the finals."
The final, meanwhile, will be played in October to determine which team takes home the Sh2million prize money, as well as a chance to represent the country in next season’s Caf Confederation Cup.
