The French outfit have wrapped up a deal for the centre-back, who last played in Turkey

Ghana international John Boye has made a transfer to French side FC Metz, the club have announced.

The centre-back has joined the second tier outfit on a two-year deal, a contract that will keep him at Stade Saint-Symphorien until 2020.

He made the switch after recently ending his stint with Turkish topflight Sivasspor.

"In search of defensive reinforcements, the club at the Cross of Lorraine continue to expand their team.

"After Laurent Jans, it is John Boye who next puts on the shirt of the Maroons.

"At the end of his contract in Sivasspor, the Ghana international has committed to FC Metz until June 2020.

"He is Metz's fourth signing of this summer transfer window.

"John Boye returns to the French championship and his former coach Frederic Antonetti, two elements that should allow the Ghanaian to quickly find his marks in his new environment."

Boye joined Sivasspor in 2015 from fellow Turkish outfit Erciyesspor.

He moved to Turkey from France where he played for Rennes

The 31-year-old started his professional career with Ghana Premier League side Heart of Lions, before initially moving to Rennes in 2008 on loan.

Unable to reach an agreement for a permanent deal after his short stay, Boye returned to Lions before finally completing a permanent transfer to Rennes in 2009.

A current Ghana international, the Accra-born played for the Stars at the 2012, 2013, 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and at the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
