Extra Time: Ayew praises former Marseille team-mates after World Cup victory

The Ghanaian has congratulated his former team-mates following Les Bleus’ World Cup success on Sunday

Ghana and Swansea City midfielder Andre Ayew was full of praise for France internationals Florian Thauvin, Steve Mandanda and Benjamin Mendy after clinching the ultimate at the 2018 Fifa World Cup on Sunday.

The trio were part of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the tournament and apart from Mandanda who didn't make a single appearance, Mendy and Thauvin were used.

After eliminating favourites Argentina and Belgium in the knockout stages, goals from Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann added to Mario Mandzukic's own goal to sink Croatia 4-2 in the final.

Ayew, who has been hugely linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas, was a teammate with the trio at Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille until he joined Swansea in 2016.
