Explained: Why Salah 'crisis' talk is made to look ridiculous by stats

The Egyptian hasn't been as prolific in front of goal as he was last season, so should Liverpool fans be worried?

Has Mohamed Salah been off his game for Liverpool this season after only scoring three goals?

The Egyptian has not been his usual clinical self in recent games, failing to net in high-profile fixtures against the likes of Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain. But is his apparent lack of goals something for Liverpool fans to worry about?

How has Salah's form been for Liverpool this season?

Salah has been accused of not being able to replicate the goalscoring form that he managed for Liverpool last season in which he netted 44 times for the club in all competitions, as well as winning the Premier League Golden Boot.

So far this season Salah has managed to score just three times in six Premier League games, as Sadio Mane leads the team in league goals with four.

The forward set a high bar for himself following his sensational debut season at Anfield and so replicating his goalscoring tally was always going to be a tough feat – but when comparing Salah's goal tally this season to the same stage last season, it isn't all bad news.

Additionally, Salah's apparent "drought" hasn't impacted Liverpool too much, as the Reds have maintained their 100 per cent league start to the season through six games.

It would be a different story if Salah had been failing to score and Liverpool were struggling, but Klopp's side are first in the table and have registered six out of six wins – proof that they aren't solely reliant on the Egyptian's output.

Is Salah's form for Liverpool worse than it was last season?

Salah is currently only one goal short of his tally after the six-game stage compared to last season, and talk that he has experienced a dip in form is premature.

The Egyptian managed to score four goals and register two assists through six league outings last season, and he has scored three goals and managed the same amount of assists at the same stage this year.

Salah didn't truly start to get off the mark and release his relentless goalscoring form until, arguably, his team's visit to West Ham last year.

He only managed to score five goals until matchday 11, when he scored a brace against the Hammers and then netted eight times in a matter of six fixtures.
