Former AFC Leopards coach Ivan Minnaert has been sacked by Rwandan champions Rayon Sports, barely two months after signing a new contract.
The Belgian tactician was relieved of his duties following a string of poor results that leaves the club sitting third on the log.
Minnaert signed a contract after guiding the team to the Group stages of Caf Confederation Cup, a deal that could have seen him take charge until June 2019.
Goal revealed last week how Minnaert narrowly survived the wrath of irate Rayon fans, who were baying for his blood after the team had lost to lowly ranked Amagaju FC.
“Ivan Minnaert is no longer the head coach of Rayon Sports, he has been dismissed due to a poor run of games on top of failing to manage the dressing room,” confirmed a statement in the club's official website.
The club also suspended Minnaert’s two assistants Jeannot Witakenge and Marcel Lomami. “Assistant coaches have also been suspended until further notice.”
Rayon Sports are set to take on Kenyan champions Gor Mahia in the return leg of Caf Confederation Cup in August.
