El Kanemi Warriors sweat over Aliyu Rasak's fitness ahead of Kano Pillars tie

The Borno Army’s midfielder is in doubt of featuring in Sunday's league tie against Sai Masu Gida over injury concern

El Kanemi Warriors are sweating over the fitness of Aliyu Rasak who could miss Sunday's league tie against Kano Pillars.

The defensive midfielder had to be replaced after hurting his ankle in the Borno Army's 3-0 loss to Plateau United on Wednesday. And coach Ernest Ezeru confirms he is a doubt ahead of Sai Masu Gida's visit to Maiduguri.

“Yes, just like you heard, Rasak got injured in our game with Plateau United and had to be replaced. It was an ankle injury and I doubt if he will be able to make for weekend's game,” Ezeru told Goal.

“We also have few others with minor injuries and they shall all be examined by our doctors [during Friday and Saturday training sessions] and we shall sit down to deliberate on what is best for them and their career. We need a result against Pillars but it won’t be at the detriment of their career.

“The loss to Plateau United is still very fresh in our minds and we must do everything to return to winning ways to let our fans know that we do not have any crisis at all,” he said.

El Kanemi have won the two matches they played at home this season but were also beaten from their away fixtures.
