Egypt winger Trezeguet tags Mohamed Salah 'world best player'

Kasimpasa’s Mahmoud Trezeguet has labelled Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah as the world's best player.

Salah, who made the top-three FIFA shortlist for 2018 Ballon d’Or along with Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo, following his impressive feat last campaign for the Reds, was praised by his compatriot.

The Egypt forward netted 44 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side, helping the club achieve third place in the Premier League and helping them reach Champions League final.

He also scored all his country's goals [2] in their disappointing 2018 World Cup campaign. 

The former Roma star is back in his country ahead of their African Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Niger Republic, and Trezeguet took to Twitter to share a picture of both of them in training, with the caption: “[I’m] working out with the best player in the world."

The award, which is decided by a combination of votes from national team coaches, captains, members of the media and fans, will be presented at the Best FIFA Football Awards in London on September 24.
