Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Kevin-Prince Boateng says they did not deserve to lose Saturday's Bundesliga clash with RB Leipzig.

The Ghanaian was a 62nd minute substitute for the Eagles but his presence did little to avert a 2-1 defeat at Red Bull Arena.

Jean Augustin and Timo Werner put the home side 2-0 up before Ante Rebic halved the deficit on 77 minutes.

"We played well in the second half – much better than we did in the first," Boateng said, as reported by his club's official website.

"We really battled hard and gave our all. The team deserves a lot of credit for that.

"You’ve got to remember, we were playing against a very strong opponent.

"We wanted to play out of a solid defence and hit on the break.

"Considering the way we really fought, I think a draw would have been deserved.

"We need to think positively now and pick up where we left off in the second 45 minutes, when we played very well."

Boateng, who has been nominated for the Fifa Puskas Award, has now tallied six appearances and one goal for Frankfurt.

He joined the side on a three-year deal in August after terminating his contract with Spanish outfit Las Palmas.

Tenth-placed Frankfurt are back to action on Saturday when they host VfB Stuttgart at Commerzbank-Arena.
