The Namibia international's contract with Phunya Sele Sele is due expire at the end of this month with the attacker having joined the Free State giants on a two-year deal in August 2016.
IOL has now been informed by a source close to Hotto that the 26-year-old player will be playing his football at Gauteng-based side Wits in the new season.
“Hotto is joining Wits. It is a done deal. He has agreed a two-year deal with the club. He will team up with his new teammates on 1 July,” a source said.
However, Hotto is said to have opted to join Wits, who won the 2016/17 Premier Soccer League (PSL) title and 2016 MTN8 Cup.
Hotto is versatile player, who can play as left-back and left-winger and he played an important role in helping Celtic survive relegation last season.
The Swakopmund-born player featured in all of Phunya Sele Sele's 30 matches in the league - scoring once in the process.
When contacted by the publication, Wits club administrator George Mogotsi did not confirm nor deny whether they had indeed signed the skillful player.
“He is not yet here, but the day he arrives, I can safely say yes. But for now, he is not here,” Mogotsi said.
The Clever Boys endured a disappointing 2017/18 PSL season which saw them flirt with relegation under accomplished coach Gavin Hunt's guidance.
The Braamfontein-based outfit has parted ways with Vincent Phiri, who recently joined PSL giants Orlando Pirates on a free transfer.
Hotto is seen as a direct replacement for left-winger Phiri.
