The 22-year-old speaks on being named in the Black Stars squad for back-to-back games against Sierra Leone later this month

Waasland-Beveren attacker Nana Ampomah believes his latest Ghana call-up is a step towards cementing a place in the Black Stars.

The winger is among 23 players summoned by coach James Kwesi Appiah for this month's double-header against Sierra Leone in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

He is currently among Ghana's hottest men in Europe having notched five goals in eight league appearances involving seven starts in the Belgian topflight this season.

“I am very happy to earn an invitation again for the game against Sierra Leone," Ampomah told Atinka FM.

“It is always a privilege playing for your national team.

“I will do everything possible to maintain my place in the team.

“There are lots of players and everyone is fighting to be in the national team so is up to me to work very hard and keep my position in the team.”

Ampomah made his Ghana debut in a 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Egypt last year.

The 22-year-old, who has been linked to German side Fortuna Dusseldorf, currently has three appearances to his name for the Black Stars.

Ghana hosts Sierra Leone on October 11 before traveling for the return fixture four days later.
